Weekend watch!!

Interesting videos from a relief program making a difference on the ground - Zambia Scholarship Fund. I rarely upload videos, but I thought these three are worth sharing!

  1. Cho,

    Very encouraging stuff.

I met a man in Lancaster who has been sponsoring Zambian medical students at UNZA Ridge Way campus for a while now. He's a medical consultant himself and has formed a charity (name eludes me right now), thru' which he disburses the funds, much of which is his personal money.

He's currently sponsoring about 6-7 students, some of whom have graduated recently, and says he wants to assist about 12 students altogether. If you know of any genuinely needy medical students, let me know.

There're conditions of course, such as the sponsored students must agree to stay and work in Zambia.

  2. Cho,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I will see what I can do to channel some more US sponsors their way.

  3. Zedian,

We have recently set an organisation with a european arm

    ZASN EUROPE - www.zasneurope.org

The site is still under development.

We hope to get involved in some of these issues.

I'll speak to the Chair and see if they have some ideas.

  4. This is really interesting. My wife and I have sponsored orphans and have operated a primary school in rural Zambia since January 2001 ... it started out of a matrix of need at the peak of the AIDS pandemic in the area ... hospital staff who died and left orphans, and generally the impact of AIDS in the community ... We have supported that work with our incomes and nominal fees for able parents.
We would greatly value more information on how we might increase this support to kids and the community.

Well done to the producers, that video is good ... one teacher at a time, one child at a time!!!

Last year in December, Mark, the very first sponsored kid completed Grade 12 along with others in his class. It is very encouraging.
