The annual rate of inflation, as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI), increased by 1.2 percentage points from 13.1 percent in March 2009 to 14.3 percent in April 2009. The increase in the annual inflation rate in April 2009 was mainly attributed to increases in the prices of food products.
